Nightwolves on the prowl. #2 in the series by Clarrissa Lee Moon. Now, like always, no spoilers, no teasers as to the plot except for this Watch out Japan, Cat's coming and she worse than a barrel full of earthquakes! That being said, the book is written in a raw, vibrant style that takes no compromises, makes no excuses. You either take it on the chin or you walk away. This book has plenty of action, sex, and violence. Moon doesn't back off, doesn't apologize for how she writes, which is full bore, balls-to-the wall and damn the torpedoes. This book is not for everyone, not by a damn patch, but it is for those who want to kick life in the crotch and hump it into submission. I would include myself in that category.
The second book in the series, Nightwolves on the Prowl takes up where Nightwolves Coalition leaves off. We are reunited with Cat and her mates, her brothers and sisters, her sons and her military counterparts. The book opens with Cat and company in Japan looking for a suspected portal. When Cat steps through the portal she steps into a world that will change her life.

We get a look at other worlds in this book, including Cat's own world. Without giving too much away, we do find that, yes indeed, beyond that point there do be dragons. More mystical beings are introduced, some good, some not so much. As in Nightwolves Coalition we are taken on a fast paced, roller coaster ride of action, mystery, seduction and humor. There are more sex scenes in this book but they fit into the story so they aren't there just for shock value, but be warned, they are there.

As with the previous book, there are some editing issues here, but they do not in any way detract from the story. The characters are well fleshed out and the pace of the book moves smoothly. Cat does get on her soap box once again, and I will admit I skimmed through that part. This book has more romance than the previous one but if I had to put it in a genre I would lean toward Urban Fantasy. While you don't need to read the first book to enjoy this book, I would recommend it. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next installment of the series.
Events have been set in motion that, according to prophecy, will culminate in a series of disasters immense in scope and magnitude by the end of 2012. The cataclysm will have physical as well as metaphysical ramifications as the Earth's polarity will shift and portals will open into other dimensions. Magick will spew onto Earth. Cat is a Priestess who has come from Trinidad, another world. She is a self-reliant, big-hearted, stubborn leader who radiates sexuality. Her goal as Protector is to try to minimize negative repercussions by negotiating treaties or wiping the floor with those creatures whose only desire to wreak havoc and destruction for their own evil purposes.

As the book opens Cat and her team are on a scouting mission in Japan where unexplained seismic activity had occurred recently. Cat feels a powerful compulsion to step into a portal that is discovered there. The portal feels benign as Cat and a small team step through into a hot dessert-like dimension. Once again, Cat is thrust into deep personal trouble as we are introduced to the three cousins who are the charismatic, powerful, and devilishly handsome leaders of this world. Cat, ever the protector of the innocent, must risk everything, in an attempt to halt an assault by an invading hoard of evil creatures that are slaughtering or capturing huge numbers of people with impunity. The attacks are escalating and Cat must somehow forge new bonds yet still protect her beloved family. Then the unthinkable occurs.

Ms. Moon flits from dimension to dimension in this novel while carefully crafting descriptions of the landscapes and occupants of each so as to pull the reader into the action. For the first time we get a tantalizing glimpse of Trinidad - Cat's home and haven - a magical, restful planet filled with wondrous creatures including huge fire-breathing dragons and tiny, mischievous pixies. Meanwhile on Earth, the Nightwolves continue to work through differences and meld into a more cohesive whole. All are aware that time is steadily ticking away. New alliances become imperative as Earth teeters on the very edge of the abyss.

This was the second thrilling installment of the Nightwolves series, planned to be a seven book extravaganza of paranormal fantasy and explicit romance that is sure to excite fans. The heat is on! I highly recommend for readers over the age of eighteen who sometimes enjoy a bit of kink and crave intense, high-octane action along the way.

Nightwolves on The Prowl by Clarrissa Lee Moon is an exciting sequel. Cat and the Nightwolves continue to fight hard against unknown obstacles as they save the world from certain doom. This saga is not your everyday run of the mill vampire series, but a rare treat. Cat, her mates, and family are demi gods in vampire form, and Clarrissa's creativity builds the imagination of new worlds, allowing the reader's mind to explore the possibilities.

The sequel is as action packed and descriptive as Nightwolves Coalitition. Clarrissa brings in new blazing hot characters that tantalize the senses, mixing sizzling scenes with a strong plot that can only force the reader into wanting more. Each personna in the novel is carefully sculpted through dialogue and colorful depictions into a three dimensional being whom can be empathized with, hated, loved, and respected.

I highly recommend this series to anyone who is looking for a well written novel with intrigue and suspense.
